How Submissions Work

Do you have a sensational idea for a new TV show or a blockbuster movie? Think you have a hot new TV format that will wow audiences?

If you do, and you want to submit a proposal to one of the M-Net channels, please make your selection below:

Timelines for Unsolicited proposals: We receive a large volume of submissions. We have devised the timelines below to ensure that all proposals are assessed fairly and timeously.

Drama/Comedy/Game Show/Reality: Unsolicited proposals in these genres can be submitted at any time. These genres will be assessed quarterly.

  • All proposals submitted by 31 December, will be assessed in January.
  • All proposals submitted by 31 March will be assessed by April.
  • All proposals submitted by 30 June will be assessed in July.
  • All proposals submitted by 30 September will be assessed in October.
  • Should we be interested in your submission, the relevant channel will contact you to engage further. However, if you do not receive a response within 90 days, please consider it unsuccessful.

Telenovela & Soap Opera: Unsolicited proposals in these genres can be submitted at any time. Channels will load open briefs in this genre on the submissions website as and when required. These genres will be assessed twice a year.

  • All proposals submitted by 31 March will be assessed by April.
  • All proposals submitted by 30 September will be assessed in October.
  • Should we be interested in your submission, the relevant channel will contact you to engage further. However, if you do not receive a response within 90 days, please consider it unsuccessful.

Lifestyle/Documentary/Current Affairs: Unsolicited proposals in these genres can be submitted at any time. These genres will be assessed monthly. Should we be interested in your submission, the relevant channel will contact you to engage further. However, if you do not receive a response within 90 days, please consider it unsuccessful.

Open Briefs: From time to time, one of the M-Net channels will issue an open brief. In this case, the channel will specify the type of content that it is looking for, and any qualified production company or industry professional can submit their content proposal before the stated deadline. The open brief will provide the timeline that channel will follow for that brief. Should we be interested in your submission, the relevant channel will contact you to engage further. However, if you do not receive a response within 90 days, please consider it unsuccessful.

From time to time, one of the M-Net channels will issue an open brief. In this case, the channel will specify the type of content that it is looking for, and any qualified production company or industry professional can send through their content proposal before the stated deadline.

It is also possible to submit a content proposal to us, outside of an open brief. It will be processed as an unsolicited proposal.

Please note that your proposal must be sent to us electronically through the form on the M-Net Corporate website (click on one of the relevant channels above). You can fill in the details of your proposal and will be required to accept the terms and conditions.
